Class is over, but you are not going anywhere. I told you to stay behind, and here you are, sitting at that little desk while I walk slowly around you, my heels clicking on the tile floor.
I am your teacher, and I am very disappointed in you. Your grades are slipping. Your attention wanders. And I have a feeling I know exactly where your attention has been wandering to. Was it me? Was it the way my blouse fits when I lean over your desk to check your work? Be honest with me. I always know when my students lie.
Detention with me is not like detention with anyone else. I lock the classroom door. I pull the blinds down. And then I tell you exactly what you are going to do to earn your way back into my good graces. You will be surprised how motivated a student can become with the right kind of encouragement. I have turned around many failing grades in this classroom, and I use very hands on methods.
I love playing the teacher because the power is so delicious. I am in charge. I set the rules. I decide when you have earned an A, and I am very, very strict about extra credit. If you have ever fantasized about the one who got away in high school, the one you could never stop thinking about during algebra, that is me. All grown up, all alone with you after the final bell.
Maybe you prefer being the authority figure while I play the naughty student who needs discipline. That works beautifully too. I take direction wonderfully, especially when it involves short skirts, detention slips, and a teacher who is far too interested in my after school activities. Roleplay lets us flip the script any way you like, and I love it from every angle.
Picture the scene with me. The empty hallway outside. The sun going down through the classroom windows. My red pen in my hand as I walk toward your desk. I am going to lean in close, close enough that you can smell my perfume, and whisper exactly what your punishment is going to be. Your heart will be pounding so loud I will hear it across the desk.
The classroom is ready and I am already writing your name on the board. Call the dispatcher and ask for Courtney. Class is now in session, and attendance is mandatory.
Your teacher,
Courtney
